- Ownership of Uploaded Tracks
All backing tracks uploaded to Acoustic Version UK remain the intellectual property of the original artist who created and uploaded them.
Artists grant Acoustic Version UK a license to host and distribute their tracks for the purposes of sale and promotion via the platform. This license is non-exclusive and revocable, subject to our Terms of Service.
- Usage Rights for Purchasers
When you purchase or download a backing track from our website, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the track for personal, private, or practice purposes only, unless otherwise stated.
- You may not use the track in public performances without the appropriate rights.
- You may not upload the track to YouTube, Spotify, or other platforms without additional licensing.
- You may not distribute, resell, or repackage the track in any form.
- Public Performance & Broadcast
Many backing tracks may be based on copyrighted compositions. If you intend to use a track for:
- Live performances
- Online content (e.g. YouTube, Instagram, streaming)
- Commercial use (e.g. advertising, monetization)
You are responsible for securing the appropriate rights or permissions from the original copyright holder of the composition. This may involve obtaining a license from PRS for Music (UK) or another collecting society.
- Commission-a-Musician Service
We offer a “Commission a Musician” feature that allows users to pay artists to create custom backing tracks.
- The artist is paid for the performance and recording service, not the copyright itself.
- The resulting track remains the property of the artist unless an alternative agreement is made.
- If the commissioned track is a cover of a copyrighted song, you are still responsible for obtaining any performance or usage rights required for public or commercial use.
- Licensing for Artists
- Originality and Rights: You must be the original creator of the backing track you upload, or you must have the legal right and permission to distribute it.
- Securing Licenses: You are solely responsible for securing any necessary rights, including but not limited to:
- Mechanical licenses for cover songs.
- Arrangement rights, where applicable.
- Permissions from original copyright holders, if the track is based on existing copyrighted works.
- Warranties: By uploading a track, you confirm and warrant that:
- You have all required permissions to distribute the track through our platform.
- The track does not infringe any third-party copyrights, trademarks, or other rights.
- Platform Policy: Acoustic Version UK does not verify licenses for uploaded tracks and assumes no responsibility for rights violations committed by users. We reserve the right to remove or disable access to content in response to valid copyright complaints, in accordance with our Terms of Service and applicable copyright law. You, the uploader, bear full legal responsibility for the content you submit.
